Results of the New Deal and Challenges of the Dust Bowl- SPI's 5.2.2, 5.2.5

Due to the snow days, we condensed some of the content from last week into one class period. Today, we briefly reviewed some of the results of the New Deal. We categorized them as the "3 R's," relief, recovery, and reform. We know that FDR's New Deal was aimed at helping those in need (relief), helping the economy bounce back from the Great Depression (recovery), and making sure that the same mistakes aren't made in the future (reform). We also analyzed a primary source relating to the issues that farmers were facing due to the Dust Bowl during the Great Depression. Last week, we learned that farmers were hit especially hard even prior to Black Tuesday. I've attached a letter from a girl named Grace, who lived in McCracken, KS. Students were asked to perform a close read over this source and complete the attached close read graphic organizer. If you have any questions over this content or anything else from this unit, please feel free to contact me. Thanks!
